We attended site after a phone call the previous week asking us to provide a quotation. This company have never had a Rack Inspection in the past and were advised by an external audit that it was required by law to have an annual inspection. here’s what our SEMA Approved Inspector found.
SPECIFICATION
- Unit 2 was made up of Link51 XL Adjustable Pallet Racking
- 4000mm x 1100mm x 3000mm beams
- H Duty uprights inc B1 foot plates
- 130mm section box beams (Yellow)
- First Beam level: 1640mm
CONFIGURATION
- 2no single run sof 6 bays
- 4no double runs of 6no bays
MODIFICATIONS
We found numerous issues with the original installation of the Link51 racking, mainly incorrectly braced frames, poorly installed & incorrect non-manufacture splice kits. This clearly indicates to have been installed used second-hand, by non-trained SEMA approved engineers with no understanding of rack design. Insufficient clearances between pallets. No Row spacers installed with incorrect gap between double entry runs.
OVERLOADING
Beams are showing signs of deflecting which would mean the racking is offloaded. There are no SEMA load notices are display.
PALLETS
Broken and incorrect pallet types are being stored. Any pallets found to have uneven loads upon them may unduly stress the pallet and effect the Uniformly Distributed Loading on the beams.
INCORRECT COMPONENTS
Components such as foot plates are found to be incorrect and not to manufacture’s’ guidelines. Many beams safety locks were found to be missing or off the wrong type.
