We were asked to attend site after the customer had an external audit and hasn’t been keeping yearly records of their rack inspection & findings. We manage to attend site within 10 days of an order and provided a full detailed SEMA rack inspection report, & layout – Here’s what we found.
SPECIFICATION & BRAND
Warehouse One:
Bay Type One
- Dexion Speedlock MK3, 5000mm x 900mm x 3000mm wide beams
- M duty uprights consisted of STD foot plate
- Most bays comprised of 3no beam levels (101mm open section)
- No decking or upright protection was found.
Bay Type Two
- Link 51 XL, 3000mm x 1100mm x 2700mm wide beams
- H duty upright with B3 footplate (single bolt fix)
- 1no beam level only. 120mm box section
Bay Type Three
- Redirack APR, (Welded)
- 5000mm x 900mm x 3600mm wide beams
- 2.0 upright duty
- 3no beam levels per bay. 120mm open section (C beam)
DAMAGES FOUND
Overall we found many areas of concern here are some of the risks
- Incorrect braced Link51 XL APR frames
- Damaged components to uprights and beams (Red risks)
- Heavy signs of corrasion to Redirack APR & Dexion Speedlock MK3
- No SEMA Load notices located on any end runs.
- Beams bolted in place rather than using beam safety clips.
- Beams overloaded in some areas
- Incorrect frame orientation
- Broken pallets
- Incorrect clearances between pallets (minimum of 75mm required)
- Euro pallets stored on 900mm deep frames
RISKS
A total of 10 x Red, 47 x Ambers & 6 x Green risk were recorded.
ACTIONS
All Red risks were advised to be offloaded, with all Amber risks to be repaired within 4 weeks.
We condemned all the racking showing heavy corrasion and have advised a replacement. Repairs are now on-going to ensure the warehouses are safe and compliant.
TRAINING &
The customer has now booked on 3 employees onto our Rack Awareness course. This will provide them the knowledge to carry out weekly and monthly in-house rack inspections.
BOOKED
We have already booked to return in 12 months to complete another SEMA inspection.
